Ty Dillon embarks on his third season of full-time competition in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driving the No. 13 GEICO Camaro ZL1 with crew chief Matt Borland for Germain Racing.
Dillon’s sophomore Cup Series season was highlighted by scoring his official career-best finish, earning a sixth-place finish in the July event at Daytona International Speedway. The young driver also impressed with strong runs at Martinsville Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. In his rookie year, Dillon led 40 laps of competition and made headlines with chances to win at both Daytona and Dover International Speedway.
Dillon hails from a racing family where his father, Mike, was a NASCAR driver and his grandfather is NASCAR Hall of Fame owner Richard Childress. Dillon began turning laps at the age of 13, making his way around tracks paved in asphalt, concrete and dirt.
After collecting the 2011 ARCA Racing Series championship, Dillon scored his first NASCAR career victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway in August 2012 in the NASCAR Truck Series. The win helped propel him to Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors. Dillon provided an encore with two more Truck Series wins in 2013 and earned the Most Popular Driver Award.
Dillon then moved to the NASCAR XFINITY Series where he has 138 starts including one win, 32 top-5 and 86 top-10 finishes, along with four pole awards.
Dillon spends much of his free time outdoors – mountain biking, hunting, fishing or hiking. He is an avid sports fan, rooting for the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Braves and Charlotte Hornets. He is also involved in several sporting leagues with his brother and friends, including basketball, golf and fantasy football. Dillon and his wife, Haley, were married in December 2014 and reside in Mooresville, N.C. with their daughter, Oakley, and dog, Bubba.
