As the 2018 NASCAR season comes to an end, Ty Dillon and the GEICO Military team are focused on capitalizing on the final two races at ISM Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway. After garnering strong results the past two weeks, the Germain Racing team sees these closing races as an opportunity to continue to build momentum heading into the offseason.
This will be Dillon’s sixth Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series start at ISM Raceway. In his previous five races, he has scored three top-20 finishes. His best finish of 11th place came in the fall of 2017 with the GEICO Military team. Dillon has an average start of 25.2 and an average finish of 19.8 at the one-mile track. Over his years in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Dillon has competed in nine races at Phoenix. With an average start of 11.7 and an average finish of 8.2, he has earned two top-five and seven top-10 finishes. His best finish of fourth place was earned in the fall of 2014. In both of his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts, Dillon earned two top-15 finishes with a fourth-place effort in 2013. Having only competed in three K&N Pro Series West, two of those were at ISM Raceway. He finished third in 2010 and fourth in 2011.
Dillon Weekend Chatter
Phoenix will be very different when you go back. What are your thoughts as you prepare for the weekend?
“I haven’t been back to Phoenix since they made all of the changes, so it’s definitely going to be exciting to figure it all out. It’s going to be fun for the fans since no one really knows what to expect. Phoenix has been a great track for me over the years. I have run a lot of races there and have done really well there in the past. Our GEICO Military team finished 11th in this race last year. Hopefully we can go back and capitalize on those results and the notes we gathered from that race.”
