Caymus Vineyards returns as a major associate sponsor on the GEICO Chevrolet SS in Sonoma
The Driver’s Wheel…thoughts from Ty Dillon
…on how he feels about making his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut at Sonoma:
"I don't think I've been to Sonoma since I was six or seven when I went along with my grandfather. I personally love road course racing. I've probably left a couple wins on the table in the NASCAR XFINITY and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Sonoma Raceway seems like a very technical race track where you have to be very disciplined. I enjoy those styles of road courses. I can't wait to get the GEICO Chevrolet SS on track there and shift some gears."
…on spending some time with associate sponsors Caymus Vineyards this weekend:
"I haven't been out in Napa or Sonoma valleys in California's wine country at all. I come from a wine making family, so we are passionate about wine. Drinking wine is very special to us. Caymus wine, and all of the Wagner Family of Wine brands, is probably the most consumed wine in our family next to our own brand. We all love Caymus. I'm excited to go see the winery and spend some time with the Wagner's. I've definitely been looking forward to this weekend having them be a major associate sponsor on the GEICO Chevy and just to spend time with the team's friends at Caymus. I know Bob Germain is very proud of his relationship with Chuck Wagner and everyone at Caymus, and the Germain Racing guys always look forward to getting back to Sonoma."
Crew Chief Quips:
Bootie Barker…on racing at Sonoma…with a Rookie:
“Sonoma is a very difficult track as far as chassis setup. You need a stiff car to be fast through the esses, but in many other areas of the course, you need the car to be more soft. We have to find that balance with Ty on what he needs to excel in all areas of the course. For our GEICO Chevy team, we are heading to Sonoma with the thought in mind that we want to get Ty as many laps as we can in practice. If he’s comfortable, we may work on a qualifying run. But, getting laps is our focus.”
Thoughts from team owner Bob Germain Jr.
...on racing at Sonoma and having Caymus Vineyards continue to be such big team partner there:
"I look forward to the Sonoma race every year. It's so different than any other place we race - the weather, the landscape...the atmosphere is just totally different. And, of course, continuing to being able to represent the Wagner family and Caymus and the Wagner Family of Wine brands is something I'm very proud of. Chuck Wagner and his team always make us feel so special when we go out there. It's one of my absolute favorite weeks of the racing season. I can't wait to get back!"
This weekend, our No. 13 GEICO Chevrolet SS features major associate sponsorship from Caymus Vineyards as well as associate sponsorship from Twisted Tea, Sherwin Williams Automotive Finishes, ZAK Products, Wix Filters and Rtic Coolers. Germain Racing is proud to be a Lincoln Electric team.
