The Driver’s Wheel…thoughts from Ty Dillon
…on how he feels about making his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut at Richmond:
"Having experience at any place is definitely helpful, and when it’s good experience, it always gives you more confidence. I’ve had some solid races at Richmond. I’m feeling confident about where we are with the GEICO Chevrolet team. We’ll take it stride by stride and hopefully we can have a great race Sunday."
…on how day or night racing preferred at Richmond:
"I think any racing at night and under the lights is just more fun. Because of the shine of the cars it’s just cool you get a little more of a heightened excitement– I’d rather run under the lights. "
…on racing at Richmond:
“Richmond is a fun race track. It’s one of those places where your car has to be right, and as a driver you have to be there, too. I’ve gotten better and better each time I’ve gone there, so I’m looking forward to hopefully more improvement and a good weekend there in the GEICO Chevy.”
Crew Chief Quips:
Bootie Barker…on racing at Richmond:
“Racing at Richmond is tricky on any given trip there, but certainly, with Ty Dillon making his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut there, we know it may be extra demanding. The heat is going to be quite a change for us from last weekend. There are a lot of factors and basically they mean the fans that are coming out to the track to watch the race, and those that tune in from home, they should all be in for a treat with this weekend’s race at Richmond.”
This weekend, our No. 13 GEICO Chevrolet SS features associate sponsorship from Twisted Tea, Sherwin Williams Automotive Finishes, ZAK Products, Wix Filters and Caymus Vineyards. Germain Racing is proud to be a Lincoln Electric team and a special decal for DriveSmart VA.
